Experience & Reputation

We have served Rancho Santa Fe and the North County Coastal communities since 1977 almost 50 years.
Who will oversee my job?
The owners, Bill and Fran Lambert, personally oversee the crews on every job. Our company is built on hundreds of loyal, repeat customers who have worked with them for decades.
Why choose one company for trees, landscape, and irrigation?
Because we offer all three under one roof, property owners don’t need to coordinate several separate specialists to keep their landscape in top condition.
Certified Arborists & Tree Care Qualifications
Should the tree service I hire have a Certified Arborist on staff?
Absolutely. Trees are the most valuable part of your landscape. Improper pruning or unidentified pest and disease problems can devalue a tree and shorten its lifespan. A Certified Arborist assesses the right pruning or treatment and the correct time of year to do it, and oversees the crew. Mariposa has had the same Certified Arborist on staff for over thirty-five years.
What is a Certified Arborist?
A Certified Arborist must pass a multi-phase exam and complete ongoing continuing education covering tree biology, diseases, species characteristics, and safety. This credential is available only through the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).
What should I ask before hiring any tree service?
Ask about staff qualifications, how long they’ve been in business, and verify a State Contractors License, Workers’ Compensation that covers tree work over 15 feet, and liability insurance. Also ask whether they belong to professional tree care organizations.
Tree Pruning & Removal
Can you handle difficult or large tree removals?
Yes. Our highly skilled tree climbers perform even the most difficult removals efficiently, removing problem trees and leaving your landscape in the same condition as they found it.
How do you approach tree pruning?
Our crew has decades of experience and prunes trees to bring out their natural beauty, at the correct time of year for each species.
Do you offer stump grinding?
Yes. We provide stump grinding to fully remove the remains of a tree after removal.
Do you offer fire-protection vegetation management?
Yes. We provide vegetation management to help protect your property from fire.
Tree & Plant Health Care
What is a Tree and Plant Health Care Program?
A program tailored to your landscape, designed to give your trees and plants just the right amount of water and nutrients to improve their health and longevity.
How can it lower my water needs?
Our organic fertilizers and mulches improve your soil and promote healthier root systems, which can reduce water needs along with pest and disease problems.A Certified Arborist must pass a multi-phase exam and complete ongoing continuing education covering tree biology, diseases, species characteristics, and safety. This credential is available only through the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).
